There are fewer things more satisfying than breaking up your day at the office with a bloody good video.
Here are some of the best viral videos to hit the web in recent months…
“Shia LaBeouf” Live – Rob Cantor
“SHIA LABEOUF” is a song by Rob Cantor. It tells the true story of an actual cannibal.
You’re walking in the woods, there’s no one around and your phone is dead.
Out of the corner of your eye, you spot him (Shia LaBeouf)
This is how the musical masterpiece begins – an epic 3 minute breakdown of a gory battle to the death with Hollywood superstar Shia LaBeouf, backed up by a live instruments, professional dancers and various choirs (The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, The West L.A. Children’s choir and The Argus Quartet, to be exact) At the time of writing, the video had been watched nearly 800,000 times in just two days.
Rob Cantor is an American singer songwriter currently promoting new album Not A Trampoline, on which “Shia LaBeouf” features. Despite showing desperate signs that he didn’t want to be in the public eye anymore at this year’s Nymphomaniac premiere in Berlin, LaBeouf, surprisingly, makes a cameo at the end of the video.
First spotted on Tumblr, this video offered some welcomed restbite from the hoards of feminist rants and and “witty” posts about “white people”.
So here it is, “Shia LaBeouf” Live in all it’s ridiculous and hilarious glory.
Late night shopping may never be the same again after you watch IKEA’s homage to Stanley Kubrick’s horror classic, The Shining.
This brilliant advert celebrates IKEA Singapore’s extended opening hours while taking clear advantage of the Halloween season. Just how many references from The Shining can you spot? The video has racked up nearly 2 million views in just 3 days. Take note, Mahou, this is an excellent example of a greatly executed advert.
FANTAZIA LITTLECOTE HOUSE NEW YEARS DAY
FANTAZIA 1993 NEW YEARS DAY LITTLECOTE HOUSE THE MORNING AFTER!!!!
This delightful relic shows the aftermath of an all night acid house and breakbeat hardcore rave ran by famed 90s dance organization Fantazia in Wiltshire, UK. The dancers at 00:38 utterly steal the show.
Any readers from Valencia might notice the striking resemblance to this amazing documentary about the Ruta del Bakalao – a famous Spanish dance and raver movement originating in good old Valencia -“Música maquina, alcohol y las denominadas drogas de diseño son ingredientes básicos de tales fiestas”-. It just goes to show that 1993 was a great year to dance in European carparks.
But back to Fantazia – Thank you, SupaJam, for introducing us to this wonderful, wonderful video. “I can keep dancing forever me, well at least until I remember where I put my car”. Brilliant.
Happy Pharrell Williams // JO-DO: ‘Unhappy’ Valencia
ESTRENO MUNDIAL del vídeo musical ‘UNHAPPY’, que muestra las partes no tan felices de la ciudad de Valencia.
Valencia jokers JO-DO released this funny, satirical response to the utterly vom-worthy “everything is great and perfect and HAPPY” rendition published by fellow Valencians in light of the release of Pharrell Williams’ hit song Happy. See our article Valencia: ¿Happy o Unhappy? to see just what Sepia writers thought about the aforementioned monstrosity.
JO-DO created a no-holds-barred, whirlwind video tour of everything that’s wrong with Valencia today, filming at the Formula 1 track, America’s Cup, RTVV, rundown areas of El Cabanyal, Nou Mestalla and more. #HAPPYDAY
BONUS video – Not filmed this year but still deserves a place in this article…
Goats Yelling Like Humans – Super Cut Compilation
Well, the title says it all. Goats. Yelling like humans. This super compilation has spawned many a YouTube user to recreate popular pop songs using the screaming animals, my favourite being Jay- Z feat. Kanye West – Niggas In Paris. A comic troupe from L.A. also responded to the video by creating the funny Humans Yelling Like Goats Yelling Like Humans. “YEAH!”
